Modern, Comfortable Dental Treatments
A healthy smile is our first priority. Cavities, broken or missing teeth, or advanced gum disease can all detract from your health, your appearance and how you feel about yourself. Dr. Reeves has pursued advanced, post-graduate training in dental implants, endodontics, smile design, oral surgery, and temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD).
What does that mean for you? That you have a dentist who can take care of routine repairs, and can place implants and/or dentures, perform root canals, and more. You don’t need to be referred to a completely new and unfamiliar dentist. Dr. Reeves offers extended services and extended hours to accommodate his patients.
“Tooth restoration” refers to a variety of treatments that we use to save your natural tooth wherever possible. It’s the goal of all good dentistry. “Restoration” includes filling cavities. It also refers to more complicated and extensive treatments such as placing full or partial crowns.

We fill cavities with a tooth-colored resin, rather than the traditional metal fillings. The metal restorations, besides being unattractive, react to temperature and over time can crack from the stress of the metal expanding and contracting, just as roadways crack and create potholes from water expanding to ice.
The tooth-colored resin is chemically bonded to the tooth, rather than simply applied to the tooth. This chemical bond fills in cracks and keeps food, liquids, and bacteria out.
As defined by the American Dental Association (ADA), composite, tooth-colored fillings are a more conservative solution because more of the tooth can be left intact, resulting in a smaller filling.
If a tooth is still intact, but is severely damaged and needs to be completely covered, then a porcelain crown may be the best method to save the tooth. Dr. Reeves will make a mold of your teeth and the crown will be made in a dental lab. Dr. Reeves will then permanently affix the crown to your tooth with dental cement. The crown actually becomes the top layer of your tooth. It functions the same as any other tooth and no special care is needed.
Also called inlays and onlays, are porcelain restorations custom-made in a dental lab, but don’t cover the entire tooth. A partial crown covers one to four surfaces of your tooth that are decayed or fractured. Inlays and onlays can also be made from the same composite resin used for tooth-colored fillings, creating an air-tight seal between the tooth and bacteria.
We make every effort to preserve a natural tooth. But infected roots cause pain and if the infection goes untreated, then the pain and swelling can only get worse. It can even spread to other teeth. So come in before it is too late! Not all dental problems cause pain, but when they get to that state, the treatment is more invasive and complex. While “root canal” has a negative reputation, it may be the best way to keep your tooth intact when the root becomes diseased or damaged.
If you need to replace a missing tooth, there are several options available at First Impression Dental. Dr. Reeves will discuss these options with you and recommend which is the best method to replace your tooth:
Bridges close the gap caused by a missing tooth or teeth. It’s made of two crowns cemented to the teeth on either side of the gap, and a false tooth or teeth in between. They restore your smile, let you chew and speak normally, and help maintain the position of your remaining teeth.
Dental implants involve a dental cap that is secured on a titanium rod previously implanted into the underlying bone. It permits normal flossing and brushing. Dr. Reeves can also restore an implant that has been damaged in some way. Implants are placed with the help of digital X-rays and amazing 3-D imaging technology using a cone-beam CT.
Dentures (full or partial) are an option if a patient has lost all or most of his or her teeth. Dentures help support the structure of the face, and help patients speak and eat naturally. Our dentures are prepared in-house, ensuring a custom-made, comfortable fit.
Many people have some apprehension about visiting the dentist. We can help you have pain- and anxiety-free dental care. First, we show you and explain everything we see during a dental exam. If you need any restorative care, we will discuss the options with you, but you are in control and make the final decision on your treatment.
We can also use anti-anxiety therapies to assure you have a calm and relaxed visit. If you’re exceptionally apprehensive, or are having an extended procedure, we offer sedation dentistry so you can be extremely relaxed during your treatment.
It can happen any day, any time. A sudden excruciating pain in your tooth over the weekend, a fall that cracks or chips a tooth. Many dentists don’t offer emergency service, but at First Impression Dental, we do!
If you have a problem that occurs outside of “regular” office hours, please contact us at . Dr. Reeves is a full-service dentist, not just 9 to 5. He offers emergency care, and will also accommodate you if you have special scheduling needs.
