Dr. Nojan Jafari, DDS
Dentist in Ashburn
Dr. Nojan Jafari is a proud native of Northern Virginia. He attended Langley High School in McLean before completing his undergraduate degree at James Madison University. During his time at James Madison, Dr. Jafari conducted research in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, focusing on manipulating cell migration to both inhibit cancer cell spread and promote wound healing.
Dr. Jafari earned his DDS degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis, one of the oldest dental schools in the U.S., with a tradition of comprehensive education that dates back to 1879. The curriculum emphasizes both strong academic and clinical training, as well as significant contributions to research—such as the development of the first fluoridated toothpaste, which later became Crest.
Following dental school, Dr. Jafari completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, consistently ranked among the top dental schools worldwide. During his residency, he served as Chief Resident at the Kernersville VA Medical Center, providing care and compassion to our nation’s veterans, while also rotating in UNC’s Oral Pathology Department. Through this experience, he gained extensive expertise in treating medically complex patients and became proficient in a wide range of procedures, from porcelain veneers and implant dentistry to fabricating sleep apnea appliances, using both digital and traditional methods.
Dr. Jafari’s primary focus is on educating patients about preventive care and helping them achieve long-term oral health stability. He is a strong advocate for the connection between oral health and overall systemic health. Known for his calm and patient demeanor, Dr. Jafari is dedicated to making dentistry as painless as possible, earning the trust of even the most anxious patients. His own aversion to needles inspired him to develop a personal injection technique that is nearly painless—so much so that many patients aren’t even aware when he starts numbing.
Dr. Jafari is fluent in English, Farsi, and is moderately proficient in Spanish.
Dr. Jafari resides in Great Falls and feels fortunate to have his entire immediate family nearby in the DMV area. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, hiking, bouldering, watching sports, and spending time with his family and their beloved dog, Lulu.
