Dr. Jonathan Yu grew up in Northern Virginia and is excited to return to the area. He attended Hayfield Secondary School in Alexandria and completed his undergraduate education at the College of William and Mary. He then attended Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine where he graduated with a DMD in 2016.
After graduating, Dr. Yu joined the U.S. Army. His first assignment was at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, where he treated new incoming soldiers ensuring their dental health. He became passionate about patient education after oftentimes being the first dentist many of the new soldiers had ever seen. While at Fort Leonard Wood, Dr. Yu received further training and practice in digital dentistry, endodontics, and oral surgery. He was then assigned to Korea and Washington State where he provided comprehensive dental services to the soldiers stationed there. While in Washington State, Dr. Yu was assigned to the 1-2 Stryker Brigade Combat Team as the brigade dentist. There, he gained experience in solving dental problems with the resources available on mission while continuing to provide comprehensive dental care to the soldiers while in garrison.
After the birth of his child, Dr. Yu decided to leave the active-duty military and apply his skills to the broader population. He is excited to build long term relationships with his patients and their families. He firmly believes in care with compassion, treating all his patients as he would treat himself and his family. He is dedicated to making dentistry as pain and anxiety free as possible, hoping that one day all patients will no longer fear or hate the dentist.
